Business Development Manager

Job Description:

You will be leading the implementation of the company’s Engineering Services, Business Development strategy within Oxford and London. Moreover, you will be entailing, developing and maintaining a network of contacts meaning the successful candidate will bring their own contacts to bid and support strategic projects in the Science and Technology sectors and Private Health as required on a national basis. Additionally, they will have an understanding of the Science, Health & Technology sectors.

The successful candidate will monitor the market trends, including knowledge of market initiatives on procurement and value-for-money primarily in the HE sector. You will work with senior leaders in developing a plan to build relationships with key influencers, support the delivery of the company’s key account and account management strategies for named customers

An additional responsibility will be to develop and deliver an annual plan of PR and marketing activities to promote the company brand in the market as well as managing a pipeline of opportunities for the local divisions and ensure that win themes are developed, agreed and implemented in PQQs and tenders.

Finally, you will ensure that the Proposals team maintains a database of templates, CVs, project profiles, images and where appropriate standard responses for development of winning submission documents and presentations in establishing the future Engineering UK business plan.


This high profile role would suit a commercially orientated professional with experience of the whole pre-construction process along with a focus on winning new business from customers and consultants. This individual will be a strong communicator at all business levels both internally and externally, and will have a track record of delivering strong results against objectives, have a high level of personal presence, local market knowledge and an established network.

•             Minimum first degree qualification or relevant experience in the role - minimum 5 years.

•             Must have Business Development Experience

•             A good network of key contacts in the market such as customers, designers, cost consultant’s influencers.

•             A thorough understanding of all aspects of winning and delivering work in construction.

•             Proven organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality.

•             Excellent communications skills and ability to connect with colleagues both up and down the organisation 

•             Drive for results
