Job Description:

We are currently working on behalf of one of the UK’s most successful and well-known Tier 1 contractors, a global construction company with an annual turnover in excess of £1bn. Their forte is carrying out projects ranging from £1mil - £50mil in a variety of sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Research and Development, Infrastructure upgrade and Healthcare.

It is their Pharmaceutical and Healthcare division that we are currently working for.


The right candidate will have:

• Lead a division over £40 million

• Have a history of delivering £10mil + projects

• Show extensive experience in the winning and delivery of two stage design and build projects

The roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Take responsibility for success, quality, delivery and programme compliance of construction within the division.

• Provide high quality management information and reports to the Managing Director.

• Ensure our business operations are executed in a safe manner and in full compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.

• Work with the team to continually improve our existing Health and Safety procedures and undertake director’s health and safety tours.

• Provide leadership to proposal and bid teams. This includes selecting the proposal team, overseeing rehearsals and leading presentations.

• Manage resources within the operations unit.

• Plan for future requirements for proposals and live projects.

• Assist in planning and managing recruitment requirements.

• Oversee contract negotiations with the commercial team and clients.

The Challenges

• Establish a repeat business client / consultant base in the target marketplace.

• Establish yourself as a recognised team leader within the business; build rapport with your colleagues.

• Form mutually beneficial relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.

• Increase our strike rate, PQQ’s to 90%, Tenders to 40%.


Our client is seeking to appoint early in the New Year for a target landing date sometimes in Q1.

The process is in three stages:

1. Initial interview with the Managing Director

2. Psychometric profile and feedback

3. Pennell meeting to include members of the exec team
