The Client

We are currently working with one the fastest growing businesses within their construction space. Since their set-up in 2010, they have grown exponentially by delivering specialist refurbishment projects across the country. They have made their name in the industry by taking on complex conversion jobs from prime commercial space to high-specification residential apartments and houses. They currently turn-over in the region of £30m with projects ranging between £2m-£20m.

The business is driven forward by a dynamic and versatile unit which offers traditional, design & build and bespoke contracts. With an experienced in-house design team led by talented architects and professional teams, they are able to offer the end-users seamless and coherent solutions for their construction needs. They are currently looking to expand their commercial team and looking to bring on a Project Level Surveyor to oversee their projects around the South East.

The Role

The company in question are looking for a job running quantity surveyor and will pay between £40,000 and £55,000 depending on level and experience;

They are specifically looking for a surveyor who is currently running their own projects valued at between £500k and £10m as a number 1 or for an assistant surveyor who is currently running packages of a similar value as number 2 on major projects. The role is office based and will be out of their Hertfordshire office. The role will require the surveyor to visit their site once a week to undertake site walks with the PQS and Sub-Contractors and to ensure the project is running on-budget. The site will be within a commutable distance from their office and travel expenses will be covered. The perfect candidate for this role will be confident with the following duties:

Main Responsibilities:

• Preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.

• Allocating work to sub-contractors and appointing them.

• Undertaking cost analysis for project work.

• Assisting in establishing the client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.

• Compiling the internal cash flow.

• Performing risk, value management and cost control.

• Identifying, preparing and analysing costings for tenders.

• Resolving disputes between contracting parties.

• Valuing interim and final account payments.

• Reporting the cost and value reconciliation on a monthly basis.

• Responsible for managing project costs from pitch to completion.

• Chairing meetings and liaising with stakeholders on commercial matters.

• Monitoring cost of site resources.

• Analysing and valuing completed work.

• Production of monthly project cost and value reconciliation reports, quarterly reports & cash flow information.

• Preparing tender and contract documentation.

• Developing strong relationships with both the clients and sub-contractors.

• Preparation of the external valuation for the client.
