Quantity Surveyor Role with Logistics Subcontractor

Job Description:

This company, established almost two decades ago, is the logistical subcontracting arm of a £42m turnover business, and the door is currently open for a talented Surveyor to join the team and get to work with a key player in the industry, experiencing projects from a different angle.

They offer a comprehensive range of Logistics solutions, and a non-exhaustive list of services offered includes the management of security, traffic, waste, delivery, materials, temporary accommodation, housekeeping, pedestrian segregation, fire safety and welfare. As specialist contractors they have a lot of in-house expertise and are incredibly effective at what they do, with a reputation that has seen them work on the:

·      Shard, the £435,000,000 project which led to the construction of the tallest building in London

·      Heron, an £89,000,000 project and the tallest building in the City of London

·     Velodrome, the £105,000,000 stadium which was home to Olympic cycling events and seated 6,000 people

·    IBC Media Hub, a £355,000,000 project which became the key congregation and work place for the 20,000 broadcasters, photographers and journalists from around the world who covered the Olympics

·   Westfield Shopping Centre, both the one in Shepherd’s Bush as well as the colossal £3,500,000,000 Stratford City Development; Europe’s largest urban shopping centre

As reflected in their very strong portfolio, their slick management style and in-depth knowledge has them well-positioned to take on projects of any sizes. Despite being a subcontractor with more-than-sufficient in-house expertise to carry out their own works, they too sub out where cost effective.

If the role seems niche, don’t worry – they are indeed seeking a fully competent standalone surveyor, however not necessarily one that has worked in Logistics before. Examples of what your duties would involve include:

·         Project cost control & management

·         Task order & Agreed Maximum Price production

·         Assist in production of tenders and contracts (including bills of quantities)

·         Producing CVRs

·         Feasibility studies

·         Referring to an understanding of Health and Safety knowledge

·         Staying up-to-date with changes to the industry and new processes

·         Subcontract orders and payments

·         Undertaking costs analysis

·         Interim Valuations

·         Identifying and responding to commercial risks

·         Liaising with clients and forging strong relationships

·         Monitoring and recording staffing house together with Contract and Site Managers

·         Knowledge of different forms of building contracts

The word ‘unique’ doesn’t begin to cover this opportunity. If you are able to do fulfil the duties and have a keenness to work with a company that has secured and continues to secure work on high-profile projects from a different angle, it’s an option worthy of serious consideration.

The job offers plenty of scope for progression, and the ideal candidate will possess:

·         Several years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor

·         A rich background in Contracting

·         Strong written and oral communication skills

·         An acute awareness of the industry

·         General IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office

·         Resilience under pressure and the ability to manage several tasks at once

·         Adeptness in commercial matters

·         The passion to develop a strong and long-lasting career
